    1. Format an empty floppy disk with system files. After inserting the new disk in the floppy drive type FORMAT A:\ /S. You should use this command in DOS prompt. It will format your floppy disk and also transfers the system files.

    2. You can create emergency disk in two methods. If you have purchased Fire using online purchase system, you will find a folder C:\FAVSETUP\EMDISK. Copy the EMDISK folder contents to your floppy disk. Now the emergency disk is ready. You can also create EMDISK using Windows version of Fire. After formatting the disk, use Create Emergency disk option in the toos menu of Fire virus control wizard. It will copy the necessary files to your disk.

    How to manually update your DAT files

  • Download the latest DAT files.
  • You will need to unzip the DAT files. Using your unzipping software, unzip (extract) the DAT files into the related directory, based on the product you have:

    DOS and Windows 3.1: C:\Fire
    Windows 95/98/NT: C:\Program Files\Prognet\Fire

  • Once the files are copied, reboot the computer for the changes to take effect.

    When a virus found in memory what to do

    Reboot the machine through emergency disk and run Fire.exe. It will detect and clean the virus.

    It may be a false alarm too. Why?

    How to solve "File I/O Error" problem?

    If you try to clean an opened file this error will occur. You should quit all windows applications before going to clean. It is advisable to reboot the machine through the emergency disk and then remove the virus.
